Human Race!?!

Alas!! the media has got a great fodder in the form of the India-Australia series, to keep there papers thick and running for weeks. These days the biggest problem with the media is that we are not getting facts as it is , we more often than not get personal views of journalists on certain issues. Reading different newspaper and other articles we tend to get different views on a subject, in a way that we are not able to judge for ourselves on the issue, we tend to get more influenced by the views of the journalists.

If monkey chants thrown at an individual counts as racist slurs then every fucking individual in the world is a racist. The same person who meant Symonds when he made those remarks would have some point in time insulted his best friend in the same manner, does that make him a racist???. In my school days there used to be a guy call Karthik who had dark skin and we used to call him kaka(crow) and mimic a crow everytime he enters the classroom, so this makes my entire class and all students in my school a racist(according to these media reporters). I cannot see one Tamil guy/girl stopping himself calling a Telegu guy/girl as Golti for the fun of it, so it makes everyone of us a racist.

I still remember Adam Gilchritst calling the Indian team a bunch of bloody Indians a few years ago, it was all hushed up. Adam Gilchrist even intimidates the umpires. Do you think nothing of this happens in Australia. Muthiah Muralitharan gets to be taunted and insulted because of his skin everytime he goes to Australia, they are not a bunch of cute little bunnies either. They are equally arrongant, but all those arent written as fervently as the current Symonds issue.

Well we have been going through all these things for a very long time, so welcome to our world. Its great to see you guys taste what we go through or our friends and relatives go through everyday. Even if we want to apply to Austrailia for studies we are in a totally different assessment level for the Visa's than other countries like US or UK. Why dont these journalists write a long winding, emotional article about this in the newspaper.

These people tend to forget what happens in your own backyard and complain about us. I request all of you to consider what Indians go through in those white countries and these recents incidents and figure out for yourselves whether they had any racist intent.

History Made : Halfway across the world

I am not going to brag about not writing a post for a long time like i usually do while starting a new t. I am going to directly come to my post. Phew after a super cool 2 weeks India had atlast won a major world championship in the form of the twenty20 world cup. It was just an outstanding achievement seeing the quality of the game we played, and the big teams that we beat.

However, I am not going to talk about the history that was made through cricket as you guys might be expecting, I am gonna talk about someone else. A 23 year old called Karun Chandok, had won the penultimate race of the GP2 series in Spa Circuit , Belgium. You might have heard of it. If you have not then search for it through google. Well the big thing is that he had won a race in his first ever season in the series.

The GP2 series is the one next to the formula 1 championship, the difference between them is that , all the cars have the same engine , tyres, electronics etc.. this is the perfect way to test the drivers talent, also it is raced in the same formula 1 circuits. I had the great pleasure of seeing this race (telecast in ten sports) , this race was also being watched by Bernie Ecclestone (Director of fia, the sports governing body, Fernando Alonso, who personally praised Karun for the race, and so on), who heard the Indian National anthem being played at the podium for the first time ever in a formula one circuit, and also saw the standing ovation from the crowd.

All this was after the best overtaking meneuver they had seen in a long time (said by Bernie), and from being in the ninth place in the starting he had gone to first place and overtook the leader from being 1.5 seconds behind in the last five laps of the race.

This is such a great acheivement and sadly in our country these go unnoticed, this is just my attempt to praise karun for his acheivement, Kudos to you Karun.. I request whoever reads this post to watch the final race of the season to be held on 29th and 30th of this month, he might not win , but if he does we all might be able to hear our national anthem once again.

i also wanted to post about my return trip.....till nagpur...the time i spent ther...and then a different journey home....
but all that will come some other time...if i somehow manage to get those thoughts to see the light of day...
wat finally drew me to the keyboard to type out this post was a serial i was watching on zee cafe...its called wonder yrs...its something i used to see bak whn i was a small kid and used to really enjoy...now they are reshowin all that...and i am havin a nice time...:-)
anyways...in todays episode...ther was this incident wher the protogonist of the serial...a teenage kid kevin...lies to his dad....and then keeps on hoping that his dad finds out the truth...
its something that we all do sometime in our lives dont we...hoping against hope that the lie that we hav told....can actually come out..we might be lying for some reason or the other...whn wat we want nothing more than to just tell the truth....

Just a moment please!!..

Well guys am writing here because i strongly felt that i have to write something yesterday!!.. I have been wanting to write something similar right from the end of the world cup for us and also all the media masala that followed it..
Well this topic is about Sachin Tendulkar and the match he played against South Africa yesterday. I saw a show in some news channel yesterday and they said that our loss was due to being slow in the starting. Come on man!!.. did these people see the match properly.. I am sure they have not. There was so much movement in the wicket that there was nothing that one could do but defend.

Sourav did try to up the tempo of the innings but failed so did gautham gambir.. Coming back to Sachin he played the perfect innings,Kallis did play very well but Sachin was better given the conditions at the point of the innings. There were a few hitches here and there but Sachin showed his class and he played better than any cricketer present.

Sachin played according to the situation he was simply awesome. Sad that he missed his century he must have been there till the end. Pulling such an innings given the situation and the perfect bowling conditions in the first half of the match he must be given more appreciation and recognition than what is being done. Marred in the cloud of speculations on our loss, is the truth that we did give it a match and a tough match , we made them fight. It was really a bad toss to lose ppl. The second innings was made easy by the dryness of the pitch, which sadly was not there when we were put to bat.
There wasn any damn sideways movement on the pitch, that made a bit easy for Kallis. which is y i wud rate Sachins innings anyday higher than Kallis just because of the conditions under which he made his 99 which was much worse for batting than for Kallis.

I really beg all those who read this post to just give a moments thought for Sachin. He is not a player who looks for personal records man.. The situation yesterday demanded him to play such an innings that was a bit slow , he just wanted to defend his wicket for the team.. coz another wicket then wud have been disastrous for us.

Please leave ur comments here but no arguments please. coz Sachin doesn deserve arguments on his abilities from his people anymore.

Pleadingly yours
Shiv

quite mysteriously....

hey ppl!!... am really sorry, not to have written anything here for a very long time... but i have been extremely busy. Here i am again ... back with a bang (I hope ;-)) .

I am here to type down a thought that i suddenly got today evening when i was walkin back home from my college bus stop. Its a really funny and kinda vague thought u knw, i really wonder at myself for this :-)..

Here goes a series of incidents that led to it i guess...

Incident Number 1 :
My class guys and I were playing cricket last week in Somasundaram ground... We were bowling first, I had already finished my quota of the intital 3 overs that i was given and was asked to field to on the off side jus a little bit close to the batsmen, short mid wicket i guess (dunno exactly .. close enuf to the batsmen anyway). Rakesh was bowling and the ball was hit a bit square hard enuf(could jus see a flash of the ball from my pos) it went a bit left to me I missed it. Next over Senthil Raj was bowling again the ball was driven quite hard to my side this time i could get my hands down to the left but still could not field it.. It quite kept happening a few more times after that.. Then after a few overs I still retained my position.. While prasad was bowling the ball was hit quite hard to my right and this time I was not able to see the ball.. but quite mysteriously the hand went in the right direction and stopped it

Incident Number 2
Yesterday we were playing Counter Strike at a gaming center near our college , I played for the first time after almost 4.5 years.. and I was the worst, well all that my enemies need is just a fraction or two to blow my head off, and i was extremely generous at it, I gave them a lifetime.. We start of the game i buy my ammunition and come out of the hideout ,I see many people around I carefully move my mouse to make the cross hair come near the head of a person in front and i take a shot (oh my gosh!!.. its my team mate,He calls me in all bad words) ...
Then after a few rounds the same things happens i come out find my enemy i know he is gonna shoot anytime, i move my mouse in excitment and shoot ........ well!!! am dead meat( I had been shooting somewhere else)

Well the same thing happens for a very long time.. game after game am being mauled by merciless terrorists.
Today we played again .. this time in a totally different arena, am CT as usual.. i take my fav gun and move forward.. I go to the right and watch, I find two enemies around i take a plunge and start shooting .. DEAD AGAIN... Next time i move the same way but on the other side.. my eyes have started working better now.. I found a terrorist around i jus move forward and can here footfalls to my right I move left a bit and I suddenly find him there aiming his gun at me, I turn my mouse around and take two shots in half fear and half excitement , BANG BANG.... WOW hez DEAD... and he was a great player of the game as well... Well my excitement was at its peak.

Well there are many such incidents that i can recall once i start thinking about them, its all so intriguing... It jus shows that more than jus learning that the Human Brain does it does a lot of mathematical calculations.. It knows so many things from what we percieve..

Even when the eye did not see something that was critical , it calculated form all its previous frame some things that are being used to stimulate a reaction . Well it does seem to make the right calculations.. Is this how reflexes work.. from calculations made in the past?????

Well i sit wondering this , I think how is the Brain doing this , well when i say that I am sitting and thinking actually the Brain is thinking on "How the brain is working".. Well this is very mysterious and exciting to me.. The brain is actually thinking of how it is working!!!... and the sad part is it is not able to find it out.

Analyzing it a bit.. All machines do things that they are being asked to without knowing it.. are our brains being instructed to do certain things without knowing it.. is it an extremely complex MACHINE???...

Even if these two parts one that works and learns and the one with which we think and wonder for ourselves (one that does all the scientific investigation) are on totally different areas of the brain, wouldn they communicate with each other .. like "hey here listen this is how i work"???

Well i guess we people have to keep wondering about such highly intruiging mysteries of the world..

mysteriously yours,
Shiv

Cant think of a title....

i read a book yester....called the Instant Millionare....wasnt tat good..full of the usual preachings....but it did get me thinking.....and i thought....
Life is Like the mirror of Erisad.....
Lets u be wat u want to be...
I mean....ppl who hav read HP ll get wat i mean...in the book...each person who looks into the mirror sees wat he wants see himself as....
My take is.....isnt life also like tat.....
Life is like a buffet meal u are eatin....u can either stick to the good old dal makhni( like i do;-)).....or u can always try out something new and exotic....at ur own risk.....
this book kept on preaching on and on about believing in urself and believing tat u can actually do something....it talked about how we worry about the uncertainities in life and hence....let opportunities go by....the book was a bit dry.....but the point tat is was tryin to make was a good one...
its this insecurity of the uncertainities ahead tat keeps us from actually tryin something different...ther is this quote tat i read somewher....
A ship in harbour is safe....but tats not wat ships are for.....
So many times in life....we look back and wish tat we had done some things differently.....hope tat ther was a time machine tat would help us go back and change wat we did...or let us do somethin tat we shd hav done...but never did....i guess tats life....no second chances here.....just gotta live with it....and hope tat next time an opportunity comes along....we dont hesitate.....

Life is at a crossroads for most of us now....change is eminent and looming large in front of us now.....and wat we are doing is either thinking about the good times we had in the past.....or worrying about wat the future holds for us....enjoy these moments....this time wont come back either....
I read a quote.....yesterday is dead....and tomorrow is yet to be born(its actually a topic for a gd at IIMC....god knows wat i ll do if stuff like this comes).........so enjoy the present...
Ponder over it....and now tat i got this outta my system....i am off to do wat i hav been tryin to do since yester....some serious code busting....
P.S. i ll post something proper soon....i know its been long...but i guess i hav been too lazy....

Happy new year !

I have never really understood the hype about new year. The need to "do" something cooler than sitting at home. The "need" to party all night and have a blast. Whats the big deal ? Its after all just another day. On a larger perspective nothing really changes except a number ! But I dont blame anyone ; people just need an excuse to party and what better excuse than "new year"!

But what I find really funny is the habit of calling everyone u know , 12 in the night and wishing them . Even I do the same ! Its something which I have become so used to that I guess I do it more out of instinct than desire. But I feel like a "phony" somehow when i'm doing this. While I'm calling people I know for a fact that my conscience is laughing and thinkin "wat crap ! happy new yr indeed". One way I justify this to myself is that its an excuse to "keep in touch" with people. But have we fallen so out of touch and so busy that we need an excuse to stay in touch with other. The answer , very sadly i guess is a big "YES". So I shall continue calling people on new yrs day and suggest you do the same ;-)

Every new yr till now I have spent only at home , watching either those "soooper hit theraipadam" they put in sun tv. Or watchin the best movies , songs , actors et al or the indian of the yr, sportsman of the yr and the billion such programs which come on tv. And then I usually curl up with some nice novel till late in the night and sms people or call them. During those days , I used to feel like such an idiot becauseI never spent a cool new yr instead always stayed at home.

And this new yrs eve am not home. I will spend it differently. I will not be watching anything on tv. Instead I will be out with friends here. I will be freaking out. I'll be spending a cool new yr ! And do i feel happy? NO!
I realise that what I want is a nice boring usual new yr at good ol' home !!

Anyway , let me sign off with my very own new yr summary of my boring life ;-)
